Exquisite Delites Celebrates Grand Opening | New Decatur Event Venue

On March 14, 2025, cars lined Glenwood Road in Decatur as friends, neighbors, city officials, longtime clients, and industry colleagues gathered for a milestone moment — the ribbon cutting of Exquisite Delites’ new event venue.

The Centeno family, who built the space by hand while growing their catering business, stood center stage as the crowd cheered. The night was more than a grand opening. It was proof that family, community, and great food can make dreams unstoppable.

The Journey to Decatur’s Newest Venue

Sandra Centeno shared the road it took to get here: a pandemic, a devastating fire, and countless hours of labor after catering shifts.

“This building was once a daycare painted in every color you can imagine,” she recalled. “We changed clothes after events, picked up hammers, painted walls, and rebuilt from the ground up. Quitting was never an option.”

Her words resonated as she honored vendors, Chef Ronnie Roberts, and her children Joel and Sadia for their sweat equity.

Family and Community at the Heart

Sandra credited both family and community support:

  • Vendors she called “the backbone of our success.”
  • Chef Ronnie Roberts, who worked events and swung hammers.
  • Joel and Sadia Centeno, who invested time and energy as true shareholders.
  • And to her husband, Chef Eric — “the heart and soul of this business.”

“As a first-generation American with Haitian-immigrant parents, this is proof that nothing can stop a dream when family and community stand behind it,” Sandra added.

Chef Eric’s Vision Forward

Chef Eric reflected on purpose:

“We have lived here 25 years. Instead of criticizing empty buildings, we became part of the solution. I asked myself — leave my family debt, or build something they could own? That answer stands behind us tonight.”

Looking forward, he shared plans for Phase Two — new amenities and culinary training programs for local youth through the Exquisite Delites Foundation.

What Happens Next

The new space — built by the Centeno family and their crew — will host weddings, corporate dinners, community gatherings, and charitable events. It is more than a venue. It is a legacy.
